Data Child Map
Mapping Technology in Childhood
The Project
In the current context of datafication and platformisation of life and education at all ages, our concern goes to the uses (and abuses) of technologies that encompass privacy issues, manipulation and surveillance during the early stages of life.
Nonetheless, this problem may assume specific forms according to the cultural contexts. Therefore, studying the problem across frontiers, and through global lenses, requires multiple, situated perspectives.
The research project Data Child Map attempts to contribute to the above-mentioned effort through the perspective of the Italian context, with particular emphasis of the Veneto region.
Data Child Map build over the following questions:
Which are the critical issues relating to 0-6 children's technological habits in the Italian context? How do the families perceive and act upon such critical issues?
How do the educators see the problem, as professionals that could intervene to prevent the risks and provide support to develop agentic approaches to technologies?
Which type of educational approaches and materials are necessary to support the families in approaching the changing technological landscape?
